  • United Way of Champaign County brings people and resources together to create positive change and lasting impact in our community. We focus on funding programs and working with initiatives that support the Building Blocks for a Good Life: Education, Income & Health. We are committed to creating a better community every day.

  • Unity West Elementary School is located about 4 miles south of Willard Airport off Route 45 in Tolono - a close and easy drive from Champaign. We have 500 wonderful kindergarten through fifth grade students, a dedicated and strong staff, and great parents! We need volunteers to help with our Homework Club, which we hold after school for third, fourth, and fifth grade students on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:50-4:00 PM.

  • Are you comfortable with personal finance? Would you like to help others? Money Mentors may be the program for you! Mentors go through a training process with University of Illinois Extension educators. Then, when community members ask for help, mentors are matched with a mentee participants. Typically participants are working towards financial goals such as increase savings, paying down debt, and managing spending.

  • The University YMCA is a non-profit campus Y at the University of Illinois in Champaign. It focuses on social justice, environmental responsibility, and student leadership development. (ie. not a gym or pool)

  • We provide adult education services for anyone 16 and older. Services include classes for adult students trying to earn a high school diploma, GED, or to improve their English language skills (ESL).

  • At the UAEC, we proudly offer a FREE high school diploma program, GED, Certified Nursing Assistant (small fee), Basic Computer Skills,  and English as a Second Language classes. We are proud of the unique educational and career opportunities our programs offer and strive to meet the individual needs all students, at their own pace. Anyone 18 years or older who is not enrolled in a regular school program in Urbana, Champaign, or in neighboring communities may enroll. Parent/Guardians of students ages 16-17 must show proof of residency in Urbana.

  • The Urbana Business Association is a membership driven, not-for-profit organization who's mission is to promote Urbana as a dynamic place in which to live, work and do business.

  • The UBA is also committed to serving the entire community by coordinating and managing the most popular summer festivals in the area, hosting Urbana's only indoor winter farmer's market, partnering with other community organizations and continually striving to connect with all of the unique and wonder people that make up Urbana, our friendly little town that we all love to call home!

    After all, our community is formed by our friends, family, and neighbors, which are also some of our favorite local business owners! 

  • The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center is a grassroots organization committed to using media production and distribution as tools for promoting social and economic justice in the Champaign County area. We foster the creation and distribution of media, art, and narratives emphasizing underrepresented voices and perspectives and promote empowerment and expression through media and arts education.

  • The Urbana Dance Company is a modern dance group founded in 2012 by artistic director Kate Insolia. We are a community based dance company. Believing that artists have the ability to transcend conventional wisdom and offers new productive and vibrant modes of being, The Urbana Dance Company seeks to understand the power of performance as a vital means for political action and social transformation. Our choreography seeks to illuminate issues of oppression such as racism, classism, and sexism with the intent to push society toward greater tolerance.
