  • The Self-Help Center of Family Service of Champaign County provides outreach, education, and training to the more 200 self-help and support groups that operate in Champaign County. The Self-Help Center maintains an online databse, and a print directory of area support groups/self-help groups. Additionally, the Self-Help Center staff answer requests for help from individuals looking for an area support group, or looking to establish a new group.

  • Thank you for volunteering at The Urbana Free Library! Volunteers are a valued community resource. They perform a variety of tasks that are important to the success and quality of the library's services. To help you have a positive experience while volunteering, we would like to provide you with some background information about the library's mission.  Our mission is to select, acquire, organize and promote a wide range of materials in order to meet the informational, educational and recreational needs of the citizens within its taxing jurisdiction.

  • Thomas Paine Elementary School in Urbana, Illinois provides education to kindergarten through fifth graders.  We serve an at risk population: 55% minority, 15% disability, and 61% low-income.  Our PTA goal is to assist in providing an educational climate where the students’ learning is enhanced by effective communication, cooperation, and collaboration among faculty, staff, and parents.  

  • Three Spinners is dedicated to welcoming refugees and immigrants to Champaign-Urbana with immediate support for basic needs.

  • Timmy Global Health expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing global health challenges. To achieve this goal, Timmy sends medical service teams to support the work of international partner organizations, channels financial, medical, and human resources to community based health and development projects, and works to empower students at U.S. high schools and universities to fundraise, advocate, and serve in an effort to fight health disparities at home and abroad.

  • Urbana Middle School is a 6th-8th grade school with about 900 students. It is located on the Green bus line and easily accessible from the U of I campus. Tutors are utilized throughout the school day (8:45-3:45) and during our before/after-school programs. Tutors can serve as classroom aides or work one-on-one with the same student every time. Tutors are needed in all subject areas. A minimum commitment of 10 hr/semester is required. All school volunteers must complete a fingerprint based background check at the district Central Office.

  • The mission of Urbana-Champaign Books to Prisoners: to provide books to incarcerated readers in Illinois by recycling donated books to facilitate a quality volunteer experience to offer a venue for inmates to tell their own stories to educate ourselves and our community about prisons Volunteers meet several times a week to read letters from inmates, select books from our collection of donated materials which meet the inmates requests and then package those books to be mailed to the inmates at no charge.
