Description

For more than a century, Family Service has been supporting individuals and families across the generations with quality human services.

Our Senior Resource Center assists adults age 60 or older or family members caring for someone age 60 and older with services designed to assist older adults in Champaign County to live safely in their own homes for as long as possible. Services include: home delivered meals, transportation rides, home care services (bathing, dressing, cleaning, shopping) advocacy and senior protective services. Support for family caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren is available for those living in Piatt County.   Volunteers help us to deliver Meals on Wheels (hot noon meals) and provide senior transportation rides (to medical, legal, or even hair appointments, grocery shop or even to volunteer).

RSVP, our Retired Senior Volunteer Program, provides adults age 55 and older with opportunites to match their talents and interests with the volunteer needs of community organizations in Champaign, Douglas, and Piatt Counties. RSVP offers mileage and meal reimbursement if needed, insurance, placement assistance and well-deserved recognition. RSVP is located at the Stevick Senior Center, 15 E. Main Street, Champaign, which also serves as a drop-in center for RSVP volunteers and other seniors. Please call them at 217-359-6500 for more information.

We offer counseling, Children First training, and coordination of Support Groups to Champaign County residents of all ages. Children First provides divorcing parents the opportunity to learn about and discuss the impact divorce has on children. The Self Help Center provides information on self-help and support groups in the Champaign-Urbana area and surrounding communities. Finally, our Counseling staff provides the assistance of professional therapists to help individuals, couples, families and children resolve conflicts arising from personal issues and relationships.  Our Self-Help Center Coordinator uses volunteers on an as-needed basis for events.
