Aquarium Steward at The Urbana Free Library (All day) Once a week for 60-90 minutes The Coral Reef Project and The Urbana Free Library are looking for an adult volunteer to donate 60-90 minutes of time, once a week, to clean and maintain the Library’s two coral reef tanks. *No experience necessary—training provided! *Each volunteer must have a cell phone and be able to lift 40 pounds. *For more information, contact Brandon at email@example.com.
Salvation Army of Champaign County Food Pantry Worker (All day) Food Pantry Worker Daily food pantry operations include accepting donations, stocking shelves, and preparing boxes and bags of food.
8:00 am to 3:00 pm
We have opportunities for volunteers throughout our day. The school day starts at 8:05 and ends at 2:50, with most classes being about 40 minutes long. Most volunteers come in for one class period a week, but you can certainly volunteer more days/hours if you'd like to!

The Salvation Army Thrift Store Volunteer
Background: The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store sells affordable clothing and furniture items. The Family Thrift Store operates Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm, and Saturdays from 9am – 6pm. The Family Thrift Store accepts donations daily. Revenue generated from The Family Thrift Store funds the Social Service programs offered to the residents of Champaign County. The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store relies heavily on community support through volunteerism. Volunteers enable The Salvation Army to better serve the individuals that utilize our services. Tasks: • Assist with picking up clothing and other items that have fallen from their displays or have been moved from their intended location by shoppers. • Assist in warehouse with sorting, hanging, organizing product, as directed by Thrift Store Manager. • Assist with janitorial duties in to ensure cleanliness in all areas of The Family Thrift Store. • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner that fosters good relationships with program participants, coworkers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: conflict resolution; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and program participants; respect of others' property and person; and communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors
1:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Before the start of each market we need assistance with the following tasks: -walking equipment over from nearby storage (on carts) -chalking space numbers -setting up tents -setting up signage around the market site -getting water for drinking and handwashing -setting up kids' activities -helping vendors find spaces -setting up chairs and tables for seating area -moving traffic barriers out of storage and setting them up We generally need volunteers who are able to lift 40 pounds, though we also have some lighter tasks available for those who require less exertion.
6:15 pm to 7:15 pm
At the end of each market we need assistance with the following tasks: -folding up and loading chairs -taking down tents -packing up table materials -collecting signage from around the market site -moving traffic barriers over to storage -walking equipment over to nearby storage (on carts) We generally need volunteers who are able to lift 40 pounds, though we also have some lighter tasks available for those who require less exertion.
