Champaign Public Library: Adult Services - Drop-In Supervisor (Parkland Project READ)

Description

A volunteer drop-in supervisor  sets up and maintains the learning site (collecting paperwork, retrieving and returning materials within the library including resources, sign, timekeeping sheets and such) prior to the start of the tutoring session. While working with tutors, the volunteer will welcome   learners  as they arrive, ensure they sign in, get their name badges and direct learner to appropriate tutor table.  The supervisor would  also monitor  timing (encourage breaks, provide updates  at halfway point and   when the session ends).  Two different volunteers are  needed to rotate, each volunteer working every other Friday, 9:10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.  If volunteers are interested and able, there is room for greater responsibility.

An interview with a volunteer coordinator must be completed before volunteer work can begin. Please email volunteer@champaign.org or call 217/403-2070 to schedule an interview.  All volunteer positions are on-going volunteer tasks and not for one time or for a short term volunteer opportunity. We ask for a minimum commitment of six months when volunteering. Every volunteer will have a regular working schedule with a minim of two hours each week.
