Child Care Volunteer

Description

Salt & Light's community grocery and thrift stores in Urbana are staffed by volunteers seven days a week. Many of these volunteers are our members, who are earning store credit to buy groceries, clothes, and other necessities for their families with their volunteer time. While older children can volunteer alongside their family members, and can even earn credit on their family's account in the stores, the volunteer tasks and the store environment aren't appropriate for preschool-aged children. Our child care room will offer a safe, fun, space for young children to play while their family members volunteer in the stores or attend a class or program. The room will be opening in 2019, but volunteer sign-ups and training are beginning now. All volunteers must complete training and a background check before being assigned to a shift working with children. For more information about the Little Lights Early Learning Center, contact Salt & Light's Child Care Coordinator Dorinda Prince, at dorinda@saltandlightministry.org.
