Receptionist
Description
Salt & Light's mission is to share God's love by fighting poverty, with opportunities that empower people for lasting change. Our community grocery stores and thrift stores create opportunities for people to do that every day, through skills they gain and relationships they make by volunteering, and credit they earn that allows them to buy the things they need for their families. Each day, we receive calls from people in need in our community with questions about how they can get connected with us, volunteers and members with questions or messages for our staff, representatives from vendors who supply us and other organizations that partner with us, and the community members who donate and shop in our stores that help keep the whole thing working. Our volunteer receptionists are the ones who take those calls.
Requirements include basic technology skill to manage email, voicemail, and a multi-line phone system; an ability to manage lots of organizational and changing information; and a calm, friendly, welcoming presence with all kinds of people.
Receptionists must interview with our Associate Director, and receive training before being assigned to a regular shift. Times are flexible, and are available throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, at both Salt & Light locations (1512 West Anthony Drive in Champaign and 1819 South Philo Road in Urbana).
