JOB TITLE: Technology Center Team

REPORTS TO: Director of Education and Personal Development
PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: The Technology Center Team supports Salt & Light's vision and mission by assisting participants with general computer problems during daily open lab times. Volunteers create and maintain positive and comfortable atmospheres where users feel motivated to assimilate information and learn.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned as appropriate)
•Willingness to hang out in the computer lab to assist clients
•Assist clients with various computer skills including Internet research, improving their typing, setting up an email address, and Microsoft Word and Excel
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
•Maturity in faith, and commitment to continuous growth
•Know your way around a computer
•Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft and web applications.
•Works well with diverse groups of people
•Patient and encouraging to participants just learning to use a computer
•Love to help those with little to no knowledge and skills in the area of computers
TIME COMMITMENT:
•Minimum of one shift (two hours) per month
•Serving opportunities on
−Mondays–Fridays 9am–3pm
−Mondays–Fridays 3pm–5pm (Children-Only Hours)
--Mondays--Fridays 5pm-8pm
--Saturdays 9am-8pm
--Sundays 11am-5pm
Opportunities available at both Salt & Light locations, 1512 West Anthony Drive, Champaign, and 1819 South Philo Road, Urbana
TRAINING: Must attend Volunteer Orientation conducted at Salt & Light
