    Pie Run will take runners on a 3.14 mile course that starts and ends at the Taste of Champaign-Urbana in West Side Park. Along the way we’ll have water and pie stops provided by your favorite local bakeries and restaurants. At the end of the race, runners choose to finish either “pie free” or “flying pie”. Those who choose the “pie free” finishing lane will remain clean and dry.     The Friends of the Urbana Free Library traditionally hosts a used book sale the week coinciding with The Sweet Corn Festival.  On Tuesday August 22nd we are looking for several people to help us move boxes of donated books into the sales area of our auditorium. We will begin at 12:30 and it usually takes two to three hours to move all the boxes. This depends on the number of willing and strong people involved.

    The Urbana Free Library would like to hear from volunteers interested in creating an outdoor fairy garden. This group of specialized gardeners would help us design, execute and maintain a fairy garden in a designated spot at the library.     Volunteers are needed to help plant, harvest, and maintain C-UPHDs community garden. There are thirty raised garden beds on site that contain crops such as asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, as well as annual fruits and vegetables that must be replanted every year. All fruits and vegetables harvested are offered to community members and families that utilize services at C-UPHD. Our mission is to increase availability of fresh produce to local residents.
