Volunteer now!

Champaign Public Library FriendShop Bookstore - Kiosk Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to assist the FriendShop used bookstore by staffing a kiosk in the library lobby.  Kiosk volunteers greet library customers, give out coupons for free books, sell books, and answer questions about the FriendShop.  Shifts are for one to two hours on Saturdays between 11:30 a.m. - 3:45  p.m. and on Sundays between 1:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.  Volunteers should be able to work at least once a month. Adult volunteers (over 18 years) are welcome at this time.

C-U Oktoberfest

The C-U Oktoberfest is a fall celebration of music, beer, and food held in downtown Champaign. Patterned after the annual festival in Bavaria, the C-U Oktoberfest features live music from bands playing festive polkas, waltzes, and traditional German music...mixed in with plenty of your favorite songs. Beer from local brewers and a selection of German beers will be served. Party-goers are encouraged to get in the spirit by wearing their best dirndl or lederhosen (or come as they are) and dance the night away!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Non-Competitive Walk

Join us October 20, 2018 at Meadowbrook park for our 11th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Non-Competitive Walk/Run! Registration begins at 8:30am with the walk beginging at 10:00am. The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks raise awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. Each event is a noncompetitive 3 to 5 mile walk that brings people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer.

ReStore Volunteer

Sporting a small, yet resilient staff, our store could not operate without the help of our volunteers.  Our staff makes up less than 20% of the manpower needed to be a success.  Volunteering is a great way to spend some time and you can make a significant difference in the lives of others as the ReStore allows virtually all donated dollars to go directly to the cost of building homes.

The ReStore also assures that over 460 tons of materials never make it to a landfill each year.  Now that’s what we call Going Green!

Champaign Farmers Market Set-up

The Champaign Farmers' Market brings fresh, local food to the heart of downtown Champaign and provides a midweek sales opportunity to local farmers. We also operate a SNAP matching program to help make fresher, more nutritious food available to our whole community.

The Market is run by a small, local non-profit, The Land Connection. We set up informational tents for community groups, kids' activities, a seating area for patrons, as well as our market Sampling Tent.
